Grand Canyon Tour

This World Heritage Site is know by people from every corner of the world, and yet it still remains a mystery to most who when they travel to Arizona to view it, miss many of its greatest best photographic locations. We have traveled to this venerable canyon for over thirty-five years, hiking to the Colorado River over twelve times, floating the entire length of the deep canyon, walked the rim trails and photographed many of its greatest features, and we are always surprised at what it has to offer on any given day. Join us for the adventure and capture its greatest awe inspiring views with your camera!

Highlights: Grand Canyon National Park, Lake Powell, Grand canyon North Rim, Grand canyon South Rim, Flagstaff AZ, canyonscapes, deep forests photography, river photography, Desert View, Mather Point, Hermit's Rest, Grand Canyon Village, Tusayan, juniper trees

The tour starts in Phoenix, Arizona and we head north to Flagstaff and then on to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. For the next two days we will travel along the South Rim and environs and get close to the temples and cliffs and colors that make this such a magnificent place in the western hemisphere. We will share with you what we have found to be the best locations and some of our tried and true methods to capture what you see, because while the Grand Canyon is extraordinary in every sense, it is surprisingly difficult to photograph!

The next two days will find us in the eastern section of the Canyon deep in a slot canyon and out on Lake Powell to view the waters and cliff faces that were accessed when Glen Canyon Dam was built in the early 60’s creating this jewel of the West. There is also an opportunity to venture to one of the beautiful wilderness areas to photograph the venerable white hoodoos of the region to add to all the rainbow of colors found in the Canyon itself.Grand Canyon Photo Gallery

We then move on to the northern reaches of the Canyon and find far fewer people, and some very eye catching and remote landscape sites that reward us for traveling there. We will stay in this area for a day, and have an opportunity to go even farther afield to photograph the highest cliffs in the Canyon on an optional excursion way out west on the North Kaibab Plateau.

Our final day is spent heading back to Flagstaff, and visiting some of the best archaeological remains in the region. Seeing these ancient ruins and accepting the challenge of photographing them is a very important part of this voyage. This journey around and through parts of the great canyon of the West covers some of what is familiar and much that you may never have found in books and magazines, and it all comes with professional guidance and technical support for your interest as a photographer.
